3.00 Execution
3.01 Coordination
(A) Coordinate work
of this section with related work of other sections as necessary to
obtain a proper installation of all items.
(B) Verify actual field dimensions of wood mouldings prior to
fabrication.
(C) Installation:
1. Interior wood mouldings shall ship to the jobsite only after a proper
storage climate has been obtained. Building must be stabilized for
temperature and humidity.
2. Install wood mouldings under the supervision of qualified personnel.
3. Requirements
a. Molding to receive transparent finish shall be selected for compatibility
of grain and color.
b. All molding to be set plumb, level and true.
c. All joints to be staggered with adjacent members on multi member
cornices.
d. Moldings and trims shall be installed in maximum lengths possible to minimize
joints.
e. All field joints to be tightly fitted and flush.
f. Field joints in running trim shall be diagonal "scarf"
joints.
g. Exposed ends of running trim shall have profiled or self mitered
returns.
h. All exposed fastening (nail or trim head screws) shall be deep set.
i. Blind nailing and concealed type fasteners to be used whenever
possible.
j. Large one piece or multi-member mouldings to be installed with back
blocking to suit.
k. Cope or miter inside corners where applicable, to produce tight
fitting joints.
l. Miter outside joints to produce tight fitting joints.
(D) Guarantee: All materials shall be guaranteed for a period of two
years from manufacturer's defects and workmanship.
